New Horizons is a social empowerment initiative implemented under the ALMA programme, focused on supporting disadvantaged young people from Poland aged 18–29 who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET).
The programme aims to equip participants with practical skills, professional experience, and personal competencies needed to achieve long-term goals such as entering employment, continuing education, or starting their own businesses.
As part of the project, nearly 50 young people received individual support in Poland and then took part in international mobility placements lasting between 2 and 6 months. During 2024, participants were engaged in the organisation and preparation of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, where they were the only youth group from abroad working full-time in these roles.
In parallel, participants were also active in border regions of France and Germany, where they supported local community initiatives, worked with socially disadvantaged groups and Ukrainian refugees, and contributed to the development of local economic and social activities.
By the end of the project, almost all participants returned to Poland and, following individual tutoring and mentoring, successfully transitioned into further education or direct employment.
